Want to Work From Anywhere? 10 Companies Hiring Remote Workers — And How to Get Hired

Remote work isn’t dead.

The bigger problem is that far more people want remote jobs than know how to find and compete for legitimate ones.

If you’re looking for flexibility, better work-life integration, access to employers outside your city—or simply freedom from the daily commute—start by looking at companies where remote work is already part of the culture.

10 Companies to Put on Your Radar

Here are 10 established remote or remote-friendly employers worth watching in 2026:

  1. GitLab — Technology, sales, marketing, customer success and more. An all-remote company.
  2. Automattic — The company behind WordPress.com and WooCommerce; distributed across dozens of countries.
  3. Zapier — Remote-first since 2011, with opportunities across technology, marketing, finance, sales and customer success.
  4. Atlassian — Its “Team Anywhere” model supports distributed work for many roles.
  5. HubSpot — More than 70% of its employees currently work remotely.
  6. Coinbase — Offers numerous location-specific remote opportunities, including roles in Canada.
  7. Shopify — Technology, product, commercial, and other opportunities.
  8. Canonical — The company behind Ubuntu, with distributed roles internationally.
  9. Buffer — Known for its distributed-work culture.
  10. Deel — A global employment platform built around distributed work.

Important: “Remote” doesn’t always mean “work from anywhere.” Many jobs are restricted by country, work authorization or time zone, so always check the individual posting before applying.

But Finding the Job Is Only Half the Battle

Hundreds—or thousands—of people may see the same remote vacancy.

So how do you stand out?

1. Stop sending one résumé everywhere.
Tailor it to the role and show measurable results, not just responsibilities.

2. Demonstrate that you can work independently.
Remote employers value communication, accountability, initiative, and the ability to deliver without constant supervision.

3. Become comfortable with remote-work tools.
Slack, Teams, Zoom, project management platforms and increasingly AI tools are becoming basic workplace capabilities.

4. Don’t rely only on job boards.
Follow target companies directly, set up job alerts, and build relationships with employees and recruiters on LinkedIn.

5. Apply strategically—not desperately.
Ten highly targeted applications can be more valuable than 100 generic ones.

One Warning

Remote-job scams are real.

Never pay someone to “secure” a job, buy equipment from a supposed employer, or send sensitive financial information to an unverified recruiter. Apply through official company career pages whenever possible.

Your Challenge

Pick five companies from this list.

Visit their career pages. Set job alerts. Follow them on LinkedIn. Identify roles matching your experience.

Then ask yourself:

“Does my résumé show that I can deliver results from anywhere—or does it simply describe what I’ve done?”

Remote jobs exist.

The goal isn’t to find every remote job. It’s to become a strong candidate for the right one.
