Success like they say, leaves clues. Every successful person has a set of habits or disciplines they stick to. This may vary from one person to another, but if you look closely, you will find a pattern. Likewise, if we must be successful, we must define what success means for us, identify what principles we choose to live by, apply them consistently and with faith and patience, we will achieve the desired results. We must shift away from the instant gratification, get-rich-quick mentality. It mostly leads to frustration.
What makes some people super-successful, in terms of material wealth? I have my own answers based on personal findings and study. The above picture I came across recently, ticks most of the boxes. Read through and tell me what you think. Do you agree with all or some? Which of them do you disagree with? I’d like to know your thoughts. Which one in your opinion is the most important factor? How do you fare on this list of habits? Can you give your self a pass mark or do still have a lot of work to do? Wherever you are on the list, is irrelevant, what matters is the realization of your current state and a firm resolve to be better today than you were yesterday. If this post is able to inspire that decision in you, then I would have fulfilled my desire which is to inspire and motivate you to optimize your potential.
Let me digress a little, to share something I think is very important to remember no matter what we seek for in life: integrity. These days, the word integrity doesn’t sound fashionable or popular, but it is worth paying attention to. I have learnt from my own experience, that if we consistently make the right choices irrespective of how painful it might be, stick to a proven plan that has worked for many and pivot where necessary, take calculated risks, apply faith and persistence, we will almost always get the result we seek.
It doesn’t matter whether its business, academics, career, relationship or wherever we find ourselves, integrity is something we cannot do without. Sometimes, we might have to walk away from seemingly juicy deals or offers because we know something is not right about it. At that moment, it might seem silly or unwise, but in the long run, it pays off. Integrity pays.
In subsequent blogs, I will attempt to dig a bit deeper into each of the habits. In the meantime, I encourage to study these habits, find out where you need to make improvement on your own lives, and let’s continue on the exciting journey of personal development.
