If your aspiration in life is to live an extraordinary life, then reading is a MUST. It is a necessity. Nothing should stand between you and that book that could turn your life around. The person who does not read, is no better than the one who cannot read. They are both essentially ignorant.
Having said this, I have been asked to recommend a list of books that can get one started on the journey to personal development, success and wealth. While I do not claim to have all the answers, I will attempt to provide some guidance based on what is working for me, what has made a difference in the lives of countless number of people and what many successful people have suggested over the years. I hope this list inspires you to get a book today and devote a few minutes to reading everyday. Obviously, I might miss out on some of your favourites, but please do well share your thoughts for everyone’s benefits. You can click on the images or links to get a copy of each book.
1. The Bible
Easily the best Book I have ever read and will ever read. In it you will find stories and messages of hope, courage, inspiration, faith and direction covering all aspects of our lives. It tells us about man’s origin, sin, redemption and our ultimate destiny. Practically all of life’s questions have an answer in the Bible. Joshua was instructed in Joshua 1:8 “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful”
2. The Richest Man in Babylon
An ageless book that teaches financial principles on how to earn, keep and grow your money, you will learn thrift, financial planning, and gain personal wealth. In language as simple as that found in the Bible, the stories will set you on a sure path to prosperity and provide solutions to your personal financial problems.
3. Think and Grow Rich
Another classic and must-read book. Written by Napoleon Hill, it is arguably the pioneer of all motivational books and it he tells the stories of Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and other millionaires of his generation to illustrate these timeless success principles. You need to get a copy today if you don’t have yet. Also check out his book titled Law of Success.
4. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
A rich and deep book on personal development, Stephen Covey doesn’t promise a quick-fix, short cut to living a better life. Rather he provides a template for a lifetime continuous development of habits that ensures our behaviours consistently match our beliefs.I also took this quote from the book’s preview “One of the most inspiring and impactful books ever written, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People has captivated readers for 25 years. It has transformed the lives of Presidents and CEOs, educators and parents— in short, millions of people of all ages and occupations”
