How to get more from life

Life was not designed to give us what we want, but what we deserve. A farmer does not reap a huge harvest because he needs it, but because he deserves it. A student doesn’t pass exams because he needs it, but because he deserves it.
Anyone who ASKS recives. The one who SEEKS finds and ANYONE who KNOCKS will have the door open to him. Wow! What a statement from the Holy Bible. Finding is only available to searches. If you search, you are bound to find. This is an infallible, timeless and reliable truth. Many have been brainwashed today into believing that by just “claiming” or affirming blessings they will receive anything they want. Someone said “affirmation without discipline is the beginning of delusion”. There is nothing wrong in wishing for success and aspiring for greatness, but there is something called labour. The law of reaping and sowing says you will reap what you sow. Another way to put it is to say that what you’ve reaped today is a result of what you’ve sown over the years. Many people will struggle to agree with this. You will rather blame your family background, economy, limited job opportunities, the government, lack of time, the ruling political party and so on. However, if you wish to grow and excel, in my opinion, this is the starting point – looking at the man in the mirror, that is you. It is taking responsibility for your life and knowing that the key to a better life is YOU and not something out there.
Perhaps you are familiar with the Parable of the Sower in the Bible (cf Matthew 13). Another key lesson from this story is that if you don’t sow, you don’t reap. So, whatever it is you are aiming to achieve, begin now to do what needs to be done to achieve your goal. Begin to study, research, exercise and take baby steps towards your vision. Les Brown said “to be successful, you must be willing to do the things today, others won’t do, in order to have the things tomorrow others won’t have”
Finally, and most remarkably, is the reality that you do not reap what you sow, instead you reap MUCH MORE! Take a seed for example. I have a favourite quote when it comes to a seed and it’s something I’m fascinated about. Here is it “Anyone can count the number of seeds in a fruit, but nobody can imagine the number of fruits in a seed” When you plant a seed, you don’t get a seed back, you get much more – a tree with multiple fruits, branches and more. Make sure you are planting the right seed today for a better future tomorrow.

    1. To get back on track requires taking certain steps. First is to admit that you have stalled or taken a different direction. A lot of people live in denial. One of the greatest signs of human maturity is taking responsibility for our mistakes. Then, you need to take a firm decision to make a U-turn. So decide exactly what it is you want to achieve, write it down and indicate a timeframe you wish to achieve that. Next you have to determine what are the steps you need to get to where you want to go, what price do you have to pay. Do you need more education, skills or experience? Go and get it whatever it costs you to do that. Begin daily to now work towards that goal. Perhaps you have been out of job for a while and want to get back. Are there people who have done the same? How did they do it? Learn from them and commit to doing what will get you back on track.

Seeds seeds seeds. No wonder the Bible enjoins us not to despise the days of little beginnings. The seed may be small today but the outcome will definitely be massive tomorrow if it’s the right one and the right soil with the right maintenance. This is quite thought provoking!
