Dare to Achieve The Impossible

Do you want to achieve anything worthwhile in life? Are you hungry and passionate about leaving a mark either in business, career, family or any vocation you find yourself in? One factor you need to imbibe is what I call Possibility Thinking. You must believe that you have whatever it takes to achieve your goal.

One of the qualities of successful people – entrepreneurs, sports men, inventors, and those in different works of life is an innate belief in their ability to achieve their dreams. They face challenging situations like everyone else, but they have this inner steel, a firm belief that they have what it takes to overcome. They don’t give in easily. They preserve till they reach their goals.

Here are a few nuggets to inspire you to believe and aspire for greater heights.

1. “Nothing is impossible. The word itself says “I’m possible” – Audrey Hepburn

What are you afraid of? What are scared of ? What’s holding you back? Stop running away from your fears. Confront them and suddenly you will realize that some things seem impossible until they are done.

2. “The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a man’s determination” – Tommy Lasorda

Learn from the Wright Brothers, Thomas Edison and other great inventors. People told them it could not be done, it had not been done before, they were wasting their time. But they stuck to their guns. They held on to their dreams. Those who ridicule you today, will celebrate you tomorrow if you hold on to your dreams.

3. “There is one thing that makes your dream impossible: the fear of failure” – Paulo Coelho

Face it. Everybody has fears. The difference between failures and successes is that successful people do what they ought to do inspite of their fears. The aircraft is safe in the hanger, but that’s not where they are made for – they made for the skies. Ships are safe in the harbour, but that’s not where they are made for. You might be feeling safe in your comfort zone, but you are not meant for that space. There is something in you the world is waiting for. Manifest!

4. “To him who believes ALL THINGS are possible” – Mark 9:23

Belief is what matters most. It has the power to change your inner state and outer world. It gives you the power to achieve extraordinary things. It triggers the power TO DO. Listen to Mohammed Ali “I am the greatest. I said that even before I knew I was”  and Les Brown “You have the power within yourself to make anything possible, you must diminish the doubt and ignite the self belief” There are many things we can achieve if only we didn’t think of them as impossible. Ask little children. They don’t believe anything is impossible until we start changing their beliefs. You are unstoppable.

5. “Don’t ever make decisions based on fear. Make decisions based on hope and possibility. Make decisions based on what should happen, not what shouldn’t ” – Michelle Obama

We can or cannot do whatever we consider possible or impossible. This has nothing to do with our ability or capability, but more of what we believe about ourselves. Dwell in possibility because when you do, you put yourself in a possible to achieve great things. When we change our perspective, everything else changes.  Say to yourself loud everyday “behind me is infinite power, before me is endless possibility and around me is boundless opportunity”.

  1. This was written for me!!! I have been looking at the seemingly daunting task of delving into Web Development at the age of 40, and without any prior knowledge or experience. All feedbacks since yesterday have had me screaming within “I can’t possibly achieve this” but right this morning after reading this I am going right after it, I KNOW I CAN

Thank you for this. The fear of failure has been my major challenge. But something happened just last week. A client of mine needed to a property desperately but the vendor turned down his offer to purchase a portion of the property or a structured payment for the whole. In the course of my discussions with the client, I realized that the vendor’s rejection devastated him.
Now, the vendor is a company and the major Directors of the company were politically exposed individuals who (due to Nigerian factor) are not people who one can just walk into their offices. I had the conviction within me that I can get the vendor to reconsider the offer but I was also afraid that I may fail.
The fear of failure made me not to let anyone know my intention to go back to the company. I eventually convinced the vendor’s BOD to sell a part of the property to him. Documentations were concluded last week and the client could not believe how it happened. The joy I feel seeing him and his family so happy is indecribable. I’m set to conquer more of my fears.
